What is Coaching?

The goal of coaching is to help you achieve your goals and move you closer to where you want to be in the different areas of your life.

Coaching is "Partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential. The process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership. We all have goals we want to reach, challenges we’re striving to overcome and times when we feel stuck. Partnering with a coach can change your life, setting you on a path to greater personal and professional fulfillment" (ICF).

If you are not clear on your goals, that is perfectly fine! Coaching can help you gain clarity, generate fresh ideas, and come up with different goals and options for moving forward.

Coaching aims to be aligned with your agenda and priorities at all times. It is present and future oriented, and it helps you enhance your strengths, develop self-awareness, and identify anything that is limiting you, may it be feelings, thoughts, or behaviors.

Coaching is not therapy, mentoring, or counseling. It assumes that you are psychologically healthy, resourceful, responsible, and capable of making decisions and taking actions toward growth. Coaching does not direct you, provide you with answers, or tell you what you need.

“Coaching is the art of facilitating the
performance, learning and

development of another.”

What to expect from our sessions?

Each session will usually begin with us prioritizing and agreeing on a goal that we will work on in that session. Goals and areas can include your well-being, career, life transitions, leadership skills, relationships, or getting clarity about about yourself, your life, or your purpose.

Our sessions will include exploring ideas and options, gaining new perspectives, enhancing understanding, and progressing toward your goals. Everything is completely up to you - you decide what to focus on and what is of value to you.

Your responsibilities

In order to gain the most from our time together, I ask that you:

  • Take full responsibility for yourself and your actions with the understanding that the more you put into the process, the more you'll get out of it.

  • Be fully present, open-minded, and curious throughout the process.

  • Give me permission to explore, question, and respectfully challenge any potentially self-limiting attitudes, mindsets, thoughts, and behaviors.

  • Be prepared for each session by: having an idea of what you want to work on, providing an update of recent developments and completed tasks, or of obstacles that you have encountered since our last meeting.

  • Set an intention to 'enjoy the ride' and stay positive. It is all about your growth journey!

My commitment to you

I will be ready to work with you at the agreed time, be open-minded, non-judgmental, focused, considerate, respectful, and prepared. I also commit to provide support through careful listening, questioning, and constructive challenge to assist you in your development. In addition, I will incorporate interventions from both positive psychology and coaching psychology when appropriate, and I may suggest relevant tasks that could support you in the achievement of your goals.

A little bit about my approach

I am an integrative Positive Psychology coach. This means that I see people through the lens of their strengths, and in addition to empowering you and helping you work toward your goals, I strive to help you build a life of meaning and purpose, a network of supportive relationships, an emotional and mental resilience, and a routine of self-care.

Confidentiality and ethics

I comply with the professional and ethical guidelines of ICF (International Coaching Federation).

Whatever is discussed in our coaching sessions will remain confidential, within the usual parameters of client risk. The only three conditions under which confidentiality will not be maintained are illegal activity, danger to self, or danger to others. In these cases, I will always try my best to discuss the issue with you before disclosing any information.

The bottom line

Our sessions are meant to support you, your agenda, and your priorities at all times. Coaching sessions are based on a structured conversation with a skilled professional who is there to listen to you and to offer you a supportive, positive, and non-judgmental space to explore and to grow.
